Sigator Privacy Policy and GDPR Notice

1. Who we are

Sigator is a service that provides single-use human judgment signals and related experimental features.

For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Sigator acts as the data controller for the personal data described in this notice.

2. What data we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

  • Email address (required for signal requests, mailing list signup, and rater signup)

  • Name (optional)

  • User-submitted content, including:

    • text you paste

    • images you upload

  • Signup information indicating whether you:

    • request a signal

    • subscribe to product updates

    • sign up to participate as a human rater

  • Technical metadata generated by normal web requests (IP address, timestamps)

We do not collect advertising identifiers, behavioral tracking profiles, or third-party marketing data.

3. How we use your data

We use personal data only for the purposes you explicitly choose:

a) Signal requests

To:

  • process your submission

  • generate a single-use yes / no / maybe human signal

  • deliver the result to you

  • operate, secure, and improve the service

b) Product updates / mailing list

If you opt in, to:

  • send occasional product updates or announcements

  • notify you about changes to the service

c) Rater signup

If you opt in, to:

  • contact you about participating as a human rater

  • manage rater availability and participation

Your data is not reused across purposes unless you explicitly opt in.

We do not:

  • sell personal data

  • use submissions to train AI models

  • provide advice or explanations

  • reuse signals for other decisions

4. Legal basis for processing

We process personal data under the following GDPR legal bases:

  • Article 6(1)(b) – performance of a service you request (signal submissions)

  • Article 6(1)(a) – consent (mailing list and rater signup)

  • Article 6(1)(f) – legitimate interest in operating and securing the service

You may withdraw consent at any time (see Section 9).

5. Human raters

If you submit content for a signal:

  • Your submission may be viewed by a small number of anonymous human raters

  • Raters provide only yes / no / maybe responses

  • No explanations are given

  • Raters are prohibited from retaining or reusing content

Raters are not identified to requesters.

6. Data retention

  • Signal submissions and related metadata are retained only as long as necessary for service operation and legal obligations.

  • Mailing list and rater contact details are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

  • Signals are single-use and not reused for other contexts.

7. Data storage and transfers

Data may be processed and stored using cloud service providers.

Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) are applied.

8. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. No system can guarantee absolute security.

9. Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

  • access your personal data

  • correct or delete your data

  • restrict or object to processing

  • withdraw consent at any time

  • receive a copy of your data (data portability)
